Grant Funding to Expand Local Child Care
WOOD COUNTY, Wis. – On behalf of the Wood County Child Care Task Force, Childcaring, Inc. continues to offer grant funding to help increase the availability of regulated child care throughout Wood County.
The grants are designed to support both current child care providers who are ready to grow their programs and individuals interested in opening a regulated family child care business. By investing in new and expanded child care programs, the Task Force aims to improve access to quality care for local families while strengthening the workforce that supports the community's economy.
Funding opportunities include:
• Up to $10,000 for individuals starting a licensed family child care program.
• Up to $5,000 for certified family child care providers transitioning to licensure.
• Up to $2,500 for licensed family child care providers expanding their capacity to serve up to 12 children.
Grant funds may be used for a variety of start-up and expansion expenses, including remodeling or renovations, furniture, indoor and outdoor play equipment, fencing, safety improvements such as smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers, licensing fees, and staff incentive pay (up to 20% of the total grant request).
"Expanding access to quality child care requires investing in the providers who make that care possible," said Kelly Borchardt, Childcaring Executive Director. "These grants are intended to reduce financial barriers for providers who are ready to start or grow their programs and ultimately create more child care options for families across Wood County."
Childcaring, Inc. is administering the grant program on behalf of the Wood County Child Care Task Force. Funding was provided by American Rescue Plan Act through Wood County.
